Services

All services are provided free of charge

One-to-one information and support

Staff members and trained volunteers offer support and comfort to persons who have cancer or who are otherwise affected by the disease (including family members and caregivers). We answer questions, make referrals and help clients understand their options.

Assistance is provided in-person during Resource Center hours (or evenings and weekends by appointment), by telephone (607-277-0960), and by e-mail (info@ibca.net).

Resource Center Hours:

Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. (Evening and weekend hours by appointment)

Library

The Resource Center contains a 700-volume lending library of books and tapes on cancer and related topics.

Survivorship Programs

We're beginning a variety or programs targeted to people who have completed cancer treatment. The focus is on wellness rather than illness. Watch for more information soon.

During regular business hours, callers are assisted by our staff. During weekends and holidays, callers are assisted by trained volunteers.

Boutique

Our boutique has new and gently-used wigs, turbans, hats, mastectomy bras, and other items that are provided free of charge. Open Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (other hours by appointment).

Support Groups

Support groups for women who wish to talk, share, and support each other. Please click here or call 277-0960 for the lastest group information.

Peer Information Network

Peer support telephone network of more than 50 volunteers who assist callers by sharing their own experiences with treatments, practitioners, family concerns, and other specific situations.

Support Companions

Trained volunteers who accompany clients to doctor's appointments, treatment sessions, etc. (Available only for in Tompkins County).

Breast Cancer 101

An educational program offered monthly to those diagnosed with with breast cancer and their partners/spouses or caregivers.

Other support services

One free session of counseling, and one free appoinment with an alternative practitioner.

Community Education

Cancer survivors and health professionals share their knowledge with community groups. We also write a regular column in thet Ithaca Journal about living with cancer. Past columns can be read here.

Newsletter: Choices

Newsletter featuring personal stories written by our clients, in-depth interviews with local practitioners, breast cancer news, and more. Previous issues of the newsletter can be seen here.
