Q1: How can the Cancer Resource Center help me?

We listen, we comfort, and we share. We don’t give medical advice. Rather, we help you to understand what is happening and help you make more informed decisions. We also identify resources and offer referrals that might help you. To see all of our services, click here.

Q2: What’s the best way for me to contact you?

Whichever way is best for you. You can visit our staffed Resource Center during its regular hours:

Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Other times (including evenings and weekends) by appointment.

You can call us at 607-277-0960.

You can e-mail us at info@crcfl.net.

You can call our Helpline at 607-277-9410 (leave a message; someone will call you back within 24 hours).

Q3: Should I call the office number or the Helpline number?

During regular Resource Center hours (see above), it's generally best to call the office number (607-277-0960) because a staff person will be there to speak with you, or will call you back quickly if she's then assisting another client.

During evenings and especially during weekends, you might like to call the Helpline number (607-277-9410). The Helpline number rings into a telephone answering machine which is checked every day of the year, including holidays, by a trained volunteer. Your call will be returned within 24 hours.

Q4: Where are you located?

We’re located at 612 West State St., Ithaca. It’s just west of Meadow St. (Rt. 13) and across the street from Kinko's. For a map, click here.

Q5: I have a friend in Ithaca who has cancer. If I give you her phone number, can you call her?

You should encourage your friend to contact us. It’s partly a matter of confidentiality. We can’t assume that your friend wants anyone, including the Cancer Resource Center, to know about her diagnosis. Beyond that, everyone approaches breast cancer in her own way and on her own timetable.

If your friend is reluctant to call herself, CRCFL can provide you with material which you can then pass along to her.

Q6: Can the Cancer Resource Center help my out-of-town relative who has cancer?

Many people come to us because they want to help their mothers, fathers, siblings and others who live out of town. We’re happy to offer you whatever assistance we can, including identifying cancer support organizations where they live. We'll also help you understand cancer and how you can be of assistance to your relative.
