Karen VanEtten, Newfield Central School Employee

“After my breast cancer diagnosis in 2004, IBCA was the first place I called. There was a warm, understanding voice on the other end that gave me hope and comfort. I wanted to give back to IBCA for helping me through that difficult time. I devote my time in the office to answering phones, filing, and other organizational tasks.”

Rudy Fedrizzi, OB-GYN

“Cancer has closely touched my family. My father died of colon cancer in 1999. My aunt, his older sister, passed away this year from breast cancer. I volunteer with IBCA because it is a way I can be of service to the greater community. I enjoy running and cycling and help IBCA organize fundraising events like the 5K. In addition, I help out in the office, doing data entry, painting, and general office work.”

Adrienne Lampert, Social Worker

“I am an LCSW with a private practice in Ithaca.A few years ago, a friend of my daughter's asked me to run a support group for women with metastasized breast cancer. These wonderful women have taught me so much about life! We have become like a family.”

Kristen Leising & Sheri Ryan, Student Interns

Kristen: “I would recommend volunteering at IBCA to anyone looking to work with fun, smart people who are passionate about providing resources to those affected by women's cancers”

Sheri: “Being an intern at IBCA allowed me to interact with the community and to help raise awareness about breast cancer. Their organization and the service they provide is so important and I wanted to be a part of it.”

Beth Cutter, Cornell University Retiree

“I wanted to work with a non-profit that was doing good things in the community. IBCA fits this description and was my first choice, as my sister had breast cancer. My experience at IBCA has turned out to be just what I wanted. I've been able to work with great people and I can tell what I'm doing is making a difference.”

Mike Tolarski, Todd Bruer, Fred Jackson, IBEW 241

“Shawn called us and asked if we'd be interested in doing rehab work on the new house. We had 5-6 electricians volunteer right away. We support IBCA through monetary donations as well as volunteer work. It's just the right thing to do!”
