Area Cancer Support Groups

Ithaca

Drop in Group at the Cancer Resource Center. Held each week on Mondays from Noon - 1:00 pm. This is an informal groups to chat and share a cup of coffee with others who are in or who have completed cancer treatment.

"Second Wednesdays" - For men and women with any type of cancer. Sponsored by the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes and Cayuga Medical Center. Meets the Second Wednesday of each month from 4:30 - 6:00 pm in the Bonnie Howell Education Center at Cayuga Medical Center. Programs include educational presentations and an opportunity to meet with others. Family members and friends are welcome as well. For more information, contact Bob Riter at 277-0960.

Brown-bag lunches for women with any type of cancer. Every Friday, noon - 1:00 pm at the Cancer Resource Center, 612 West State St.

Man to Man Prostate Support Group. Sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Support and education for those affected by prostate cancer. Meets on the 3rd Wednesday at Lifelong, 119 W. Court St., Ithaca. Call 277-2404, 273-0882, or (800) ACS-2345.

Cancer Support Group at Cornell. Whether you have cancer or are a caregiver, family member, or friend of someone diagnosed, take the opportunity to connect with others who know what you are experiencing. Cortland YWCA. Breast cancer support group meets on the first Monday of each month. 7-9pm. Call (607) 753-9651 for details on next meeting.

Man to Man Prostate Support Group. Cortland Regional Hospital and American Cancer Society. Meets last Thursday of the month, 5:30 - 6:30 pm. (607) 756-3189.

On-line Support Groups

A wide range of internet-based support groups is now available. People with even very rare cancers can connect with each other in this manner. One online group is targeted to people in Central New York.
